The Next Day

The snow storm last night ended up being one of the biggest for 4 years; 11 inches fell here!

Being at home along again today I decided to go out and see how the people of Williamsburg spend a sunny Sunday afternoon in the snow.

Even walking dow the street is difficult with the footpaths covered. People are shovelling the snow away.

This is the local school.

Mc Carren Park is about 15 blocks up the street from us. I thought it was interesting that they had a Menorah right beside a Christmas tree, across the road from a Russian Orthodox Church.

Sledding in the Park.

The squirrels were digging their supplies out of the snow.

This is a strange abandoned swimming pool beside the park. You can see a guy in there making a snowman. There were some local kids climbing over the fence with a home-made ladder.

I think this is a fountain, it was hard to tell, but it's a giant concrete turtle anyway.

There are heaps of trashed abandoned bikes chained to poles over here. This is what happens to them.

Right near our building, on South 2nd St, is the 221 Engine / 104 Hook and Ladder NYFD brigade.
